Don Jelly-Vani

The jelly roll went for a stroll, he said, I will be king,
And all the cup-cakes, near and far, will answer when I ring!
The chocolate cake said, Bad mistake, I fear you'll come a cropper,
And the Big Mac said, I'll be back, I'm going to buy a Whopper.

The custard tart, she played her part, and bore three treacle pies,
To sing a mass, to natural gas, upon the Bridge of Sighs.
A jammy dodger, whose name was Roger, said, Lads, we must be frank,
And change our names to capital gains, out in the savings bank!

Alas, alack, the roll said back, Indeed I have no penny,
Well don't despair, said Fred Astaire, I also have not any.
Then the violin sang Vera Lynn, and warbled Cliffs of Dover,
And all the buns, they feigned the runs, until the song was over.

Master Bakery

Another poem populated by cakes and confectionery where nothing is as it first seems.
